IRCTC launches Railway ticket booking app on Windows 8

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched official Windows phone and Windows app. IRCTC app can be downloaded for free from Windows Phone Store and Windows App Store. However there is no word about official IRCTC Android and iOS App. 

Ticket booking through this app will not be available from 8 AM to 12 Noon and 11:30 PM to 12:30 AM. This app allows users to Plan travel and book tickets, Cancel Tickets, Check PNR status and View Booking History.

The UI of IRCTC app is very refreshing and panoramic as compared to website. To use this app, the users will have to first have to generate TPIN number by visiting IRCTC website. The TPIN number will be generated for the registered mobile number.

IRCTC which generates approximately four lakh tickets a day has been widely criticized for connectivity issues and payment issues on its website. Recently Railway has also launched railway ticket booking Via SMS and an online shopping website. However it remains to be seen if IRCTC can reduce time and failure rate while booking tickets.

BlackBerry Messenger for Android and iOS Delayed.

The Much anticipated launch of BBM for Android and iOS has been delayed by smartphone maker Blackberry. The Canadian  smartphone manufacturer has blamed the delay on unreleased version of BBM.

The BBM app was supposed to be released on  21th September, however a leaked version was released on Google Play Store which was downloaded by more than 1.1 million users in just 8 hours.

Blackberry released following statement 

"Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already – more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app – is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day.

Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM. We are pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use BBM. The unreleased Android app will be disabled, and customers who downloaded it should visitwww.BBM.com to register for updates on official BBM for Android availability.

As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone. Blackberry has not given the exact date of release of  official version of BBM.

TrueCaller`s Database hacked by Syrian Electronic Army

Syrian Electronic Army has claimed that it has hacked into database of TrueCaller, the world`s largest collaborative phone dictionary and millions of phone records have been stolen from their database.

Syrian Electronic army revealed on twitter about hacking of TrueCaller`s database.

The Syrian Electronic Army claims that database contained hundred`s of millions of phone numbers and Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Gmail accounts and much of data is shared with Syrian Goverment. TrueCaller has also conformed attack and put out statement.
